  1. SHORT: Silicon Graphics-like pop-up menus.

  8. Silicon menus is another "pop up" or "tear off" type menu system for all
  9. programs which use standard system menus.
  10.  
  11. This program was designed to enhance the looks of AmigaOS 2.0 in an area which
  12. CBM seemed to blow off.  There were no changes since 1.0!
  13.  
  14. The menus will hopefully look good with any 2.0 aware program, but will
  15. probably look reversed with any of the older software.  It somehow makes
  16. Imagine more readable, in my opinion. :-/  (No, I used LightWave for SM)

  18. The features are about the same as all of the other PopMenu type programs:

  20.  Standard pull-down menues will appear if the pointer is in the screen's
  21.  menubar.
  22.  
  23.  You may select if the menus should pop-up when you are holding a qualifier
  24.  key down.  (SHIFT, ALT, CTRL, AMIGA)

  26.  The "Iris menus" option is a stay-up-without-holding-the-menu-button like
  27.  "Click menus" in the others, but more like the Silicon Graphics OS where it
  28.  acts like you are holding it down.  (Or like Windows, if you're more familiar
  29.  with that)

  31.  The subitem arrow option shows an arrow so you can see which menus have
  32.  submenus.

  34.  The center menus option centers menus vertically.

  39. Running the program from the shell:

  41.  > Run SiliconMenus [-option] [-option] ....

  44.     -H    Help text
  45.     -I    Enable Iris (tm) Menus.
  46.     -A    Turn off sub-item arrows.
  47.     -C    Center item windows.
  48.     -Q    pop-up menus only with qualifier pressed.
  49.     -W    No initial window.
  50.     -Kx    Set hot-key [A-Z].  (default is 'S')
  51.     -X    Exit Silicon Menus.
  52.     -D    Turn off double border. Double: Like the borders around windows

  54. Running the program from the Workbench: (The best way)
  55.  
  56.   First set the ToolTpyes.  These are your options.
  57.  
  58.     IRISMENUS=ON/OFF  Enable/Disable Iris menus mode.
  59.     SUBARROW=ON/OFF   Enable/Disable display of subitem arrows.
  60.     CENTER=ON/OFF      Display menus vertically centered.
  61.     QUAL=ON/OFF      Standard menus if ALT, SHIFT, AMIGA, or CTRL are
  62.               not pressed.
  63.     WINDOW=ON/OFF      Enable/Disable options window when first run.
  64.     HOTKEY=A-Z      Set the hot-key key.  Only 'A' thru 'Z' permitted.
  65.     DOUBLEBORDER=ON/OFF Enable/Disable doubled menu borders.

  68.   Now just click on the icon.  If the WINDOW option is set to ON, you will see
  69.   a strange looking user interface flying towards you.  (Sorry 68000 users,
  70.   I know this looks really slow.  It's nice on an 040)  This is a rip-off of
  71.   ButtonFly from the new Silicon Graphics OS upgrade.  It looks alot better in
  72.   24 bit!
